Program Description:
The Foundation for Innovations in Nicotine Dependence (FIND)
was established as a resource to bring reliable information about
treatment for nicotine dependence to smokers and health
professionals. FIND’s founder, Linda Hyder Ferry, MD, MPH,
is an Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Family Medicine
at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. She has extensive
expertise treating "hard core smokers". Dr. Ferry was the originator
of the idea of using bupropion (Zyban) to improve smoking cessation
(1991). Her original research on behavioral and medication treatment
for nicotine dependence has brought her recognition as a leader in the
field of nicotine dependence.

Program description:
If you have
decided to quit, or have tried to quit in the past without success, the
Topeka Pulmonary smoking cessation program can help. In the past few years,
clinical research has produced PROVEN NEW MEDICATIONS to help you conquer
your addiction to nicotine. These medications, individually and in
combination offer NEW HOPE to our smoking patients. In fact, some
medications can be started while you continue to smoke. The Topeka Pulmonary
Smoking Cessation Program gives each patient an INDIVIDUALIZED assessment of
their nicotine addiction, including a biochemical measurement of the
nicotine in their body. They also receive a medical exam and an evaluation
of their lungs. This information helps our healthcare practitioners and
smoking cessation counselors design the most specific treatment plan,
tailored to your needs.
At Topeka Pulmonary, we feel that there are no failures, only smokers who
have not yet succeeded. We may not be able to reverse the damage from years
of cigarette use, but we can slow the decline and optimize overall lung
function. The Topeka Pulmonary Smoking Cessation Program includes a
pulmonary Consultation, lung Function testing, pulmonary sputum cytology,
chest X-ray, individualized assessment of nicotine dependence, medication
treatment plans, intensive follow-up and and support. |

Program Description:
Tobacco is the #1 health risk in Nevada. To answer this need,
Carson-Tahoe Hospital has implemented a comprehensive Tobacco
Cessation Program. At CTH we understand that habits are hard
to break. Our new Tobacco Cessation Program that is twenty
times more effective than quitting “cold turkey.” This Program
will help ease tobacco withdrawal symptoms and will teach you
how to live without cigarettes…one day at a time. Our Program is
individualized and on-going, which means that each person is
assessed and a treatment program developed on an individual
basis in order to neutralize the addiction to tobacco. We use many
medications and combinations of treatments, which greatly improve
treatment success rates. The CTH Program and medications can
actually increase your motivation to quit, even if you’re not ready.
We can even help you cut down before you are ready to quit.
Our program is Physician administered.
